Maryam Tabarestani was born in North part of Iran. She got her bachelors in Economics at Shiraz University. She got her Masters in Economics Planning at Al-Zahra University in Tehran. She came to the U.S. in 2003 and decided to pursue a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics at Louisiana State University (LSU). Her main interests are the mathematical and theoretical aspects of economics. She currently holds an economist position at Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. She works on state and federally founded projects including Recreational Shrimping, Shrimp Demand Analysis, and Determinants of Oysters Demand . She provides statistical and economical advisories on wildlife and fisheries projects.
Areas of work: Resource and fisheries economics, nature based recreation, consumer behavior, demand and price analysis, applied economics and statistics
