Walter R. Keithly,
Jr. earned a Ph.D. in Food and Resource Economics at the University
of Florida. He currently holds a joint appointment in the Department
of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness and the Coastal Fisheries
Institute at Louisiana State University. He serves on numerous
state and federal committees including the Standing Scientific
and Statistical Committee of the Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management
Council (chair since 1999) and the Socioeconomic Panel of the
Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council (chair since 2002).
He is the author of approximately one-hundred reports (peer review,
technical reports, etc.) and has received grants from the National
Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency, Sea Grant, and various state agencies.
