CNREP 2019:Guidance for Presenters

Oral Presentations

Software and hardware
Oral presentations should be developed using recent Microsoft Office PowerPoint. Each room will have a dedicated computer and LCD projector. The computer will be Windows-based. Mac versions of presentations may need to be converted to PDF in order to display properly. Animations will not work in presentations converted to PDF.

Time limits
Concurrent sessions are 90 minutes long. A typical session has 4* presentations, thus each speaker has only 20 minutes total time. We strongly suggest that speakers limit their oral comments to 15 minutes and allow the final 5 minutes for audience questions. Please practice your talk so that you are within your allotted time. Speakers who exceed their allotted time will be cut off by the moderator. This is necessary to keep sessions on schedule and allow ample time for all presenters. The order of presentations should not be changed.

* For sessions involving 5 presentations, the maximum time allowed will be 15 minutes of total time per speaker.

** Lightning round presentations are a maximum of 3 minutes of total time per speaker

Submitting slide presentations by email or on-site
All presenters are encouraged to submit their slides via email to Roy Kron (rkron@lsu.edu) no later than Thursday, May 16, 2019. Any presentation not submitted by this date should not be emailed, but instead be uploaded in the speaker ready room (Esplanade Room) immediately upon arrival to the conference, and no later than 3 hours before the session.

Panel Discussions

Panel discussion sessions are also 90 minutes long.  The format for each discussion will vary by panel organizer, and panelists should consult with their session moderator for guidance on preparation.

Poster Presentations

Posters will be affixed to upright boards measuring 4x8 feet. For standard size academic posters, we request that your dimensions not exceed 45 inches wide x 45 inches tall. We do have some limited space available for larger format posters, but they must not exceed 95 inches in width. Please be sure that all poster content is adequately sized (especially the type) for viewing from several feet away.

Poster set up will be available in the Evangeline Suite from 1:30 pm on Sunday, May 19 through 3 pm on Monday, May 20. The poster viewing reception will be at 5:00 pm -6:30 pm on Monday, May 20. All posters should be taken down before noon on Tuesday, May 21.
