Dr. Naveen Adusumilli is an assistant professor at the LSU AgCenter Red River Research Station and serves as an extension economist working on water policy issues affecting agriculture in Louisiana. Dr. Adusumilli’s responsibilities include statewide extension (80%) and research (20%) concerning water policy, water management in crop production, economic evaluation of crop management practices, and economic assessment of soil based ecosystem services. Dr. Adusumilli received his Ph.D. from Texas A&M University in Agricultural Economics. Prior to him joining the LSU AgCenter, he worked as an economist for NRDC, an environmental advocacy organization in Washington, D.C. evaluating the economic impact of clean waters to the US. Dr. Adusumilli’s other previous projects include economic costs of mitigating water quality impacts of renewable energy crop production in the US, and developing dynamic optimization models for the Ogallala aquifer region in Texas to evaluate various water management strategies. Some of his current work involves working with Natural Resources Conservation Service district conservationists, engineers to conduct economic analysis of the conservation options. Additionally, he participates in two regional USDA projects, 1) SERA43 - Southern Region Integrated Water Resources Coordinating Committee, and 2) S1063 - Quantification of best management practice effectiveness for water quality protection at the watershed scale.
