Dr. Hamady Diop was recently appointed as the Director of Research and Information Systems for the West Africa Subregional Fisheries Commission, a position that coordinates and manages fisheries data collection and analysis for a seven country area of West Africa. He is currently on leave from his position as Associate Professor at Southern University. Dr. Diop holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics from Louisiana State University. He also earned Masters’ of Science in Economics and Agricultural Economics from Louisiana State University. Dr Diop has been a recipient of many grants and his research has been published widely in many scientific journals. His areas of interests are natural resource economics, seafood production and marketing. Dr Diop is a board member of the Baton Rouge Center for World Affairs, the Socioeconomics Panel of the Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council and Louisiana State Seafood Industry Advisory Board. Dr Diop was also recently awarded a one year training, coaching and mentorship in leadership through the Duke University Center for Effective Leadership Training (CETL).
