Matt Freeman's current research focuses on fishery economics and management, regulatory policy of natural resources and various other issues related to coastal regions. His research also includes collaboration with the Department of Food Science, Nutrition and Health Promotion to estimate consumer demand for value-added food products, related to prawns and grass-fed beef. Freeman has published in a variety of environmental and fisheries journals and has presented in several national and international venues. He also received the National Agri-Marketing Association Student Chapter Outstanding Faculty Award in 2012.
